Some of the 2008 Feedback we have received:
“We thoroughly enjoyed our day at the
Children’s Festival. I just wish we had known how good it
would be and we would have come on both days as I feel we only got
round half of the attractions. The event was superbly organised
and enjoyed by myself and my 4 year old son. He loved the 'very
tall' policeman and the Go Karts best but he was hard pushed to
decide which was the best part of the day! Many, many thanks –
looking forward to next year.” – SW from Shrewsbury
“Stephen, I feel compelled to write
to you again this year to both congratulate and thank you and your
team for a fantastic 2 days! We have looked forward to the Festival
again all summer, having been last year. We arrived on Sunday morning
and found a fantastic array of activities, displays and demonstrations
for our daughter Millie, who’s 4 to enjoy, but also for us
to enjoy as a family too.
Highlights for us included no queuing to get in or any parking problems,
friendly faces at every turn creating a fantastic atmosphere, the
entertainers, Arts and crafts tent, Emergency and Military services,
Go-karts and the trampolines and last but not least, the Funky Church
in the Community performers!!! We brought a picnic with us and enjoyed
that whilst watching a magic show and spent the whole day until
close at 5pm. The wrist band for the inflatables was a superb idea
as was the “virtual queuing” system on the more popular
activities.
Monday we returned with friends and had another fantastic day out.
Our friends had not been before and, following our enthusiasm for
the event, came along. They spent the first couple of hours wondering
what the catch was, why was such a great event not costing us a
fortune, how come the kids can make and do loads of quality things
for free? This just got worse when some happy chap handed us all
a bottle of water each with his compliments!!!! We had another great
day out which ended with us all dancing to Amarillo with Disco Daddy
around the field. Class!
May I thank you and your vast team of helpers for another brilliant
bank holiday event, cleverly organised, superbly executed and so
much fun for every one. It looked to have been well attended and
everyone we spoke to was having a great time. I sincerely hope you
and the team can find the energy to maintain the momentum of this
now annual event, I’m sure many people will look forward to
next year!
Happy kids = Happy parents = Happy family memories!!!! Thank you.”
- Kev, Shelley and Millie, Wombourne
“Congratulations on a wonderful Children's
Festival, we can appreciate all the work that the committee have
done over the last 12 Months. It is all the hidden work that no
one sees that is lost to all those who come and enjoy the 2 great
days. WELL DONE!” – Local Bridgnorth residents
“Hi Stephen, thank you once again for
a great Children's Festival. My family and I enjoyed both days of
the Festival for the third year running. We still didn't manage
to see everything.
My daughters are aged six and four and they very much enjoyed the
story tellers "Snail Tails"," Brum and Dudley"
and "Disco Daddy". He can never do anything wrong!
The girls had their faces painted by the very talented Harley Entertainers,
they did a wonderful job. I think you missed an opportunity to make
some money there. I'm sure nobody expected it to be free, or even
if you just had a box for donations.
We thought the wristbands for the bouncy castles was an excellent
idea too and also the general layout of the Festival much better
(everything easier to find). Looking forward to next year already.”
- Sarah, Michael, Eleanor and Bethany, Bridgnorth
Hi Stephen, I just wanted to email to let
you know how much we appreciated and enjoyed the Festival this year.
It was only your email …. that I was made aware of the event,
but was then able to take my family and also my visiting family
to the event on Bank Holiday Monday. I must feedback how professional
we all felt it was, and the range of activities for all ages was
superb. Thanks again for a great event! – SG from Kidderminster
Front page headline from The Bridgnorth Journal 29th August 2008
BRIDGNORTH District Council’s chairman and his predecessor
have praised the organisers of three big events which had the town
buzzing over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Music Fest, Green Show and Children’s
Festival all brought in big crowds of residents and visitors.
“The High Street was throbbing to The Dockers on Sunday when
we left for the Olympic flag ceremony in Much Wenlock,” said
district council chairman Councillor Ed Shirley. “After we
returned from that very successful event the High Street was still
busy at 4-5pm.
“The Green Show organised by the district council in the street
was also very well attended and I understand
that the Children’s Festival also went very well,”
he added. “I would like to congratulate everyone involved.”
Former council chairman Councillor Les Winwood said everyone should
be very grateful to Fest organiser Malcolm Bridges and his committee.
“The High Street was really buzzing,” he said. “The
music and the weather was good and the Green Show was a great success
as well.
“The Children’s Festival at Oldbury
Wells School was a very happy place to be and we must also be very
grateful to Stephen Derges and his committee for putting in so much
hard work for making it go so well,” he added.
